Why I started this newsletter
Hi there,
Welcome to the first edition of Supershort! 👋
It's been very exciting to see so many of you sign up, so I wanted to kick things off by sharing a bit about what you can expect from this newsletter. Enjoy!

Design for digital products has long been regarded as a visual discipline.
Until recently, it was often driven by designers, sometimes supported by researchers, who focused on creating something that was working well from a visual standpoint.
Copy hasn’t always been top of mind for product teams, and sometimes even an afterthought. Not many teams building apps, websites, or other digital products spend a lot of time on their copy.
But let’s take a quick look at the products we use every day — so much of what we see is text. There are buttons, descriptions, and menu items everywhere. And some screens consist of pretty much only writing — just think of the settings page in your favorite app.
With so many words everywhere, it’s clear that we should carefully consider how we use them in the things we build — and that’s exactly what UX Writing and Content Design are all about:
Viewing design through the lens of language. Or, in other words, how can we make our designs better with words?
Great writing makes for better digital products — it can make them friendlier, easier to use, and more accessible to those with disabilities. It can turn an impersonal, frustrating experience into something that feels like it’s made for humans.
Writing with a focus on user experience is a fascinating topic, and I started this newsletter to share what I’ve learned about it over the last decade.
So what can you expect?
With Supershort, I’ll share my thoughts on UX Writing and Content Design, discuss good practices and trends, give tips on how to write for digital products, and more. Expect anything that lives at the intersection of words and design. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
For now, Supershort is just a newsletter, but it’ll soon become something bigger — something I’ve been working on for over a year. I can’t wait to show you what’s coming next! Stay tuned by following me on Twitter.
By the way…
I’d love to hear what you’d like to learn more about!
Is there a specific topic you’d like me to discuss in this newsletter, or do you have a general question about UX Writing and Content Design? Just send a quick reply to this email.
